Layson Advisory Group empowers individuals with personalized tax and retirement strategies, thoughtfully designed to meet both their immediate needs and long-term financial goals.
Tony Layson | Founder and Enrolled Agent
Born and raised in Macon, Tony is the founder of Layson Advisory Group and has been a licensed insurance professional since 1975. In 1981, he and his wife Debby launched a small business bookkeeping and accounting practice, which has grown over the decades into the full-service advisory firm it is today. Tony has been an Enrolled Agent for over 25 years—a credential representing the highest level of expertise awarded by the IRS. This distinction allows him a broader scope of authority than most tax preparers, making him much more than a tax preparer. Alongside his team, Tony provides strategic tax advice as part of a comprehensive suite of financial services, a combination that is rare in the industry. He specializes in working with accredited investors and business clients, helping hundreds of clients across the U.S. minimize their tax liabilities and achieve their financial goals. His extensive knowledge of insurance, retirement planning, and tax strategy also allows him to develop life-planning strategies tailored to each client, whether individual or business. Tony has been happily married to Debby for over 54 years. Together, they have two children, three grandchildren, and recently welcomed their first great-granddaughter. Outside of the office, Tony enjoys playing the guitar, listening to live music, and spending quality time with his family. The Layson family is known for their legendary “fam jams,” bringing music and joy into their home and the lives of those around them.
Debby Layson | Chief Accounting Officer
Born and raised in Macon, Debby joined Tony in founding their accounting practice in 1981. With a strong background in bookkeeping, she played a key role in developing and growing that side of the business. As technology transformed the accounting industry, Debby continued to evolve alongside it. In 2001, she became a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, providing hands-on training to small businesses looking to streamline their bookkeeping. Always ahead of the curve, she launched the firm’s “Cloud Accounting” practice in 2010, which has since become an integral part of their services. Debby is also an accredited tax professional and has been licensed to sell life insurance products since 2006. Her depth of experience and commitment to client relationships are evident in the firm’s long-standing partnerships—many of which have spanned generations of families. Known around the office as the go-to problem solver, Debby’s practical knowledge and resourcefulness make her an invaluable part of the team. Outside of work, Debby and Tony have been happily married for over 54 years. They are proud parents of two children, Brian and Skye, grandparents to three, and recently welcomed their first great-granddaughter. When she’s not assisting clients or troubleshooting a computer issue, you’ll often find Debby in the kitchen creating something delicious to share with family and friends.
We offer a full range of tax preparation and filing services at competitive rates. Debby and our team continuously monitor all tax law changes to allow our clients to minimize current and future tax liabilities
